Why does gas hurt so bad? I know why it's there, but why does it cause so much pain?

I'll be choosing a best answer. :)
Answer:
It causes pressure in your intestines. This causes spasms in the muscles of the intestines.
i would think it causes pain becasue it puts pressure on all your surrounding organs.
Gas the term initself means something related the state of matter distinguished from the solid and liquid states by: relatively low density and viscosity coz of this it has relatively great expansion and contraction property with changes in pressure and temperature which ultimately results to diffuse readily and thus has a spontaneous tendency to become distributed uniformly throughout any container. Since our body is a container too when we do not eat for a longer period of time the vaccuum gets created which thus makes it easy for gas to make place in nicely...the moment ur brain signals u for food u naturally eat and the food entering occupies the space in our stomach but now the gas has to displace itself from it's previously occupied space...and when the food enters the stomach it just traps air along with it which just causes the air to exert more pressure to remove itself from the loops getting created with it and food. Air trapped with food or any other matter for eg. the blood will stop the oxygen flow and thus our brain gets the signal of low oxygen which in turns starts warning ther other body parts. Gas needs to come out thru some media thus god did provide us humans with a mouth with which we do burp or the anus lol u get my point right we do have some special extra effects of our own from that special hole lol ;-) But jokes apart gas is dangerous if it doesn't get a way to come out it causes heart attack, gastro, or some excruciating pain in the whole body which can be truly drastic. Extreme cases of gastritis is patients get admitted in the hospitals for a longer duration. People who are fat usually go thru this gases thing the most or those who have a highly unusual time of eating their food also people with low fibre diets experience gas problems. A diet concentrated in Starchy matter is the other most important factor. Since the body takes a long time to break down sugar and starch it usually forms gases caused while processing such foods rich in fat and sugar.
