I am taking some medicine for an injury and it says to drink it with 8 oz. of water. It also says this on my multivitamin so I was wondering if it really matters. Because some times I down it with a diet pepsi or some flavored water and I want to know if it makes a difference.

You need to take adequate liquid with medication to provide the liquid that your body needs to process the medication. It should not be caffeinated. Water is always a healthier choice than soda. Milk and some types of juices can have a negative impact on how your medication works. Stick with the Water.
It doesn't really make a difference. Those people just want everything to seem complicated so they can hide the fact that they really don't know what they are talking about.
Well try to give 2 hours between the two pills, that is just a safe bet and don't drink soda with medication since this can and will change the acidity in your stomach and can render the med more/less active. Drink 8 oz of water with your med.Im2twisterchick that is terrible advice and drinking softdrinks with certain meds can kill people, there is a method to our madness and please don't answer unless you know what you are talking about.
Aside from the fact that a soda is probably the worst thing you could be putting in your body (even worse if it is diet soda), it doesn't make a huge difference with something like a dietary supplement.It is possible though that the soda can cause a pharmacokinetic or pharmacodynamic reaction that can either cancel out the effects of the drug or in some cases amplify it (and that can be bad).
i wouldnt drink it with soda or a caffinated beverage. there could be several reasons why you need to drink it with water. some medications if they get caught in your throat can cause serious problems and for them to disolve properly in your stomach needs the fluid. so if i were you i would drink the water.
