SO right after washing the pots at the sink i sit down with a glass of water and my left arm started to shake when i lifted it, when i put it down it stopped, and now my little finger is numb, by the way im right handed if that makes a difference. Could this be serious, i am a little freaked out.
Help Please
Answer:
I don't think it is serious. Your left hand is weak and it is normal for this to happen if yuo did something that tired you out. You just need to relax.
This is very different check the tips of ure fingers if they are a differnt colour to what they are supose to be like very red or purple it culd be somthing to do with ure heart. I cant explain why u shake maby u have nurve troubels you must go and see your doctor good look friend im sure everything will be fine.
Most important dont worrie about it to much as this maybe the cause.
Hi,
Unless you have shooting pains down your left arm, or in the center of your chest, it is most likely you just overexerted the muscles washing the pots; especially if they were heavy ones. Here are the warning symptoms of a heart attack from the Mayo Clinic, one of the most respected medical facilities in the world:Pressure, fullness or a squeezing pain in the center of your chest that lasts for more than a few minutes
Pain extending beyond your chest to your shoulder, arm, back, or even to your teeth and jaw
Increasing episodes of chest pain
Prolonged pain in the upper abdomen
Shortness of breath
Sweating
Impending sense of doom
Lightheadedness
Fainting
Nausea and vomiting Too much caffeine can cause hand tremors. Also, if you pinched a nerve in your arm by resting against the sink, it could cause the numbness in the hand. I wouldn't worry about it.I am an ex-certified nursing assistant, if that helps. If you wake up tomorrow with the hand still numb, make a doctor's appointment. However, I don't think you need to go to the ER, unless you have multiple symptoms as listed above.

Why does my arm hurt after donating blood?
I recently gave blood for the first time and the girl who stuck me had trouble hitting my vein. I have good veins (from what I was told) but I felt a sharp, tingling kind of pain when she stuck me. She didn't get blood right away and had to get help. The second attendant moved the needle out a little and kept intensifying this sharp pain I was feeling. It wasn't the normal pain you feel when you get stuck, but kind of like a burning pain all down my arm. Its been three days now and it still feels the same. ITs a very strange and uncomfortable feeling. What did they do to cause this pain??
Answer:
It sounds as if the needle was resting against a nerve.Nerves and veins are very close together in the arm, and an experienced and well trained phlebotomist (person who draws blood) knows how to slide the needle into the center of the vein in order to minimize any risk of getting close to a nerve (or touching a nerve). If the needle had touched a nerve or if the needle had pierced a nerve you would have had immediate screaming pain - a feeling as if your whole arm is on fire while someone is cutting your arm off. so it is unlikely that they actually touched or pierced a nerve. But based on your symptoms and the actions of the phlebotomists that you describe, it certainly sounds as if they were close to a nerve - close enough to irritate it - and it's possible that the nerve was right next to the wall of your vein (and since they had trouble getting the needle placed properly, the needle was probably near the vein wall instead of in the middle of the vein where it belongs).Because you are still feeling the pain, you need to go visit your doctor to make sure that they did not cause a permanant injury (very rare but possible) to your arm. Nerve injuries need to be taken seriously because nerve injuries can continue to get worse and worse if they are not treated - so it's important to go see your doctor soon because if you do have a nerve injury you want to start treatment ASAP so you can minimize the long-term effects.I'm sorry that this happened to you, but I hope that you will continue to give blood in the future because it helps saves lives. Thank you for being a blood donor! Several members of my family are alive today because they got a blood transfusion, so thank you for being a donor! And I really hope that when you donate in the future you get a good Phlebotomist who knows how to do a proper stick. (In some states, phlebotomists do NOT have to be certified, but you have the right to ask for a certified Phlebotomist whenever you have to have blood testing done or whenever you are donating blood - just something to remember in the future to help you avoid any further unpleasant and painful experiences).
I don't donate blood.. I think I probably need it.
That doesn't sound too good, I hope a doctor or nurse can answer your question
aaahhh dude you just gave blood of course your hand is going to feel funny the only problem you should be worried about is if the arm is swelling then you might have an allergic reaction
Go to the doc and let them know - Really you may have a bp problem - Blood pressure!
I've had blood taken before and my arm was also sore.
I think its probably just the fact that blood is being pulled from your veins,
your best bet is to ask your doctor, but im sure you're fine!
uh oh youll prolly have to have it cut off
sucks for you

Why does my ankle hurt? What should I do?
I am a 13 year old runner, dancer, skier, soccer player and just really active. I have moderate flat feet and are painful. So my podiatrist gave me custom arch supports. Yes, I do notice a difference, but they don't take all the pain away in just my right foot/ankle/knee. Lately I have been having trouble with my knee but that's a different story. After about 1 hour of wearing my arch supports in 200 dollar shoes my ankle starts to hurt. It gets progressively worse as I keep going. It hurts on the outside right on the round bone. What should I do and what could it be? Thanks!
Answer:
To be honest I do not think that you should be asking people on the Internet I think that you should definetly go see your doctor. This has happened to me before and it turned out to be Severs and Osgoodslotters disease. (That's mispelled) I was on crutches for about 3 weeks. Trust me see a doctor.
I'd recommend going back to your podiatrist to get the RIGHT arch support adjusted so it fits better. Very very rarely does one arch support hurt more than the other so go get it adjusted by him. Your knee pain is likely do to other things and not the orthotic itself and that's something you may need to get checked out by your orthopedist. Hope this helps!
Your knee pain is related to your flat feet. Would you like to correct them?
If the areas you describe are painful and swollen, you need to stop the pain and inflammation caused by your activities.Consider Cold Compression Therapy Wraps to be worn after every activity. They are cool. You can see them at http://www.coldoneinc.com.Tournament tennis players use them for their elbows, knees, and ankles.Good luck.

Why does my ankle hurt SO badly!!?
About 12 days ago I fell down the stairs and hurt my ankle. I didnt go to the doctor but probably should have. It hurts when I walk on it, when I stand on it, and when I move it up and down, to the side and in a circle.
The problem is that after 12 days it still appears swollen and rounder than my other ankle and slightly bruised. The other problem is that My other ankle is starting to ache because of the extra pressure of standing on one foot when my ankle hurts after like 5 minutes.
The initial injury wasnt that bad but then I had gym class twice and it got worser each time.
The only reason that I participated in gym but not very well or really at all was because my ankle hurt. I'll probably get a note from my parents for gym tomorow but it still hurts.
I'm getting pretty worried because of the time period that has passed and the symptoms I still have.
It doesnt hurt that bad in the pool because I think that it is a different type of enviornment.
Answer:
It sounds like you had the most common type of injury a inversion sprain. If you ankle swelled up and still hurting I would definitely seek medical care. You need to rule out fracture. The fact that you are walking on it still and you are able to bare weight is a good sign, but nonetheless I would still have it checked out. If its not a fracture then you have sprained you ankle and the pain is caused by the chemical mediators of inflammation (prostoglandin II, bradykinin and many more). You are probable developing some scar tissue which is caused by the inflammation its a way for the bodies feeble attempt to heal it self. As a result the scar tissue replaces the injured tissue which limits you ability to move your ankle like before. The best thing to do is to have it checked out if not a fracture then go see a Chiropractor.
Dr. Ali DC
you probably sprained it or broke it and you should see a doctor immediately so it doesn't get worst
you really should not be putting any preasure on it
it needs to be rested swimming should not be so bad on it
You need to have an x-ray. You might be doing more damage to it then when you first hurt it. The worse it gets the more likely you are to have permanent damage.
And plus it may not hurt in the pool because its water and i cant do flips out the pool but in i can.But i hope i learn and plus i am only11.I wound have went to the doctors when it happened.HOPEFULLY IT GETS BETTER.GOOD LUCK
You need to get checked and definitely an xray. It is possible you may have a fracture. From what I got in the question, you are still in school, so you are at most a teenager. For children, if you are unable to bear weight right after an ankle injury, that warrants an xray immediately to rule out a broken bone.
It doesnt hurt as much in the pool because of less pressure on the ankle in water, called buoyancy.
You have a sprained ankle. Get off of it. With as much time as has passed and you are still having trouble, you need to see your doctor. He or she needs to get it X-rayed to check to see if it might be fractured. (Not broken, I said fractured. Broken brings the connotation that the bones are out of place and you should not be able to walk on it. Fractured can mean a slight hairline fracture in the bone which allows you to still walk on it, but makes healing slower and makes it more painful.)
Oh yeah, in the pool the water is supporting much of your weight so the bones and tissues in your legs and feet don't have to.
I can only suggest you rest your ankle as much as possible and keep it alleviated when sitting. You could continue to bath your ankle in a bucket of hot water with a little washing soda crystals. Also keep your ankle bandaged with a stretchy cloth bandage to give is support. It should take a few more weeks to reduce swelling and depending on the injury possibility months to heal.
I know you have a lot of answers here but it is very possible you have a small avulsion fracture (the sprain of the muscle pulls the tip of bone off); you really need: 1. to GET off of it--the fact that there is still pain is your body screaming for help 2. Use those crutches! 3. Go get an xray; you may even need a walking brace if your sprain is that bad. Stop PE.
a common ankle injury is called the anterior talofibular (atf) ankle sprain which means the tendons in your ankle partially tore. in that case you just need an ace wrap for your ankle and make sure you keep your foot elevated to prevent any bruising on the bottom of your foot and that happens when the blood from the swelling drains all the way down and just keep icing until the swelling and bruising is gone and go see a doctor to make sure the tendons arent completely torn
It's broken. Use crutches and go to the doctor immediately. The longer you wait the worse and more serious it gets.

Why does my ankle hurt even with an ankle brace Please Help!?
I sprained my ankle falling down the stairs. and it hurts when it is moved and it pops when it is walked on. Also when I stand on it after a minute it will ache and hurt so I have to stand on one foot for a few minutes. I'm not using crutches but I am using an ankle brace. I had P.E a few days ago and after that It became much more swollen and rounder than before. This was also around 5 days ago and it still hurts. I also am 14 and in middle school. What else could I be doing for it and should I be using anything else on the ankle. I have P.E also tomorrow. what could I be doing at home. I also have a pair of crutches but I haven't been using them. Than my other ankle has been hurting because I have had to stand on one foot occasionally. Could it be a fracture or a hairline fracture or what do you think is wrong. also what should I do. I have crutches I just don't know if I should use them though. Please Help!
Answer:
Actually from what you are describing, I think it's more than just a sprain, I think you may have partially dislocated it, and that is the underlying reason why it is hurting so much. My advice is DO NOT do P.E. while your ankle is like this, even though you are wearing an ankle brace, you could easily inflict more damage on it. Definitely put ice on it, and if it does not get better within the next 7 or 9 days go to the doctors office.
Ice it, and stay off of it. If the problem persists see a doctor.
The only way to tell if its a fracture or hairline fracture is with an x-ray. Your regular r. can order an x-ray or you can spend alot of money going to the ER. Abad sprain will take awhile to heal. Crutches will probably help since you can stay off it for a while. You should also be elevating it while you are up and applying ice. A medicine like motrin will help relieve the pain as well as the inflamation.
could be a fracture
When I severely sprained my ankle, I had it x-rayed as it felt broken. It wasn't. I had to stay off my foot, keeping it propped up with ice on it for a few days. Have you done any of that? You may have a broken bone, you definitely have inflammation which causes swelling and pain. You keep putting weight on it, and the ankle brace doesn't help that. My advice is to see the doctor, get an x-ray and follow his instructions to the tee. If you can't, then keep your foot propped up with ice as much as possible and use the crutches to keep the weight off your ankle. Good Luck!
i think you should ask your doctor to examine your ankles again using x-ray to find for fractures.. maybe you need to change your braces too...

Why does my 2 fingers on my left hand have pins and needles ,for 4 days now ?
Answer:
Been there! The ring finger and pinky on my left hand started with pins and needles, I didn't think much of it, as I use the keyboard alot, and thought it was carpel tunnel. Depending on what fingers are "tingling" you could have carpal tunnel. OR you could have an Impeded nerve, either in you elbow or shoulder. I didn't think about it at the time, but if left untreated, this can lead to permanent damage, and you will loose the feeling and movement in those fingers.
I'm not trying to scare you, but don't do like I did, and leave it alone too long. Please see your Physician about the problem. They may want to to an EMG to check the nerve conduction, but it is better than having the nerve completely damaged.
It may be nothing more than leaning on your elbow too much, but please have it looked at as soon as you can. Better to find out it is nothing serious, than let it go, and have worse problems later.
Above mention of thrombosis is possible, usually with thrombosis, the hand will be cold and bluish colored. If you start to have shortness of breath, neck pain radiating to jaw, or chest pain, call the ambulance. Since this has been going on for 4 days, if it was a thrombosis, usually, the pain in the hand would be worse, as the clot cuts circulation. Again, it is better to be safe. Better to KNOW it is nothing, than find out later it was serious.
Good Luck!
You may have trapped a nerve. The best thing you can do is go and see your GP.
Not sure about that one. I get pins and needles when my hands are cold, someone told me it was to do with circulation.
I had this three years ago, and went to my doctor, who told me to see a speciallist. It was something to do with my ulna nerve (funny bone) and I had to have an operation, so don't leave it too long, if you do not get any improvement
I have had the same problem before, it really worried me but when I saw my doctor she asked if I had been leaning on my elbow alot. Which I had, on the arm of my computer chair, for hours on end, lol
might be a trapped nerve. it should go away, but always best to see your gp if you aren't sure
You could have carpel tunnel syndrome.
This problem can have many answers. Your problem could be in your neck, your elbow, your shoulder or your wrist. The best thing to do is to see a doctor (ortho or neurologist) who can give you tests to see where the origin of the problem is.
You need to go see a doctor. It could be a trapped nerve but if it is in your arm especially your left it can be a symptom of more severe causes like thrombosis. Take a asprin just in case as it thins the blood and phone a helpline if your in the uk 0845 4647 NHS direct where you can speak to a nurse. Be safe and get it checked out. If you get any chest pain call a ambulance immediately.
It depends on which 2 fingers. if it is the small and ring finger, you might have a pinch nerve somewhere along your elbow. If it involves the other fingers, it might be related to carpal tunnel syndrome. Sleep with a wrist splint at nights. If this persists, I suggest you see a neurologist.
you have either carpal tunnel syndrom or a missalignet of the vertabrae in your spine where the nerves that control your arms and hand emerge from the spine and flow down the arms into the hands.Either way, you are going to need professional care. See a neurosurgeon for the best advice on nerve damage repair.Chiropractors, pain blockers, cortizone, pretizone, chinese needle therapy all reduce pain for a while, nothing cures like the surgeons blade.
You sound as if you have pressure on the nerve, you don't say which 2 fingers, so I can't say which nerve. This can be at the wrist, as in carpal tunnel syndrome, at the elbow, or even as high as the nerve plexus in the neck. If it persists you need to get your doctor to isolate and arrange treatment for the problem.
Why does it say ?
Why does it say do not use before work with heavy machinery on the back of childrens tylenol? I mean..really could we save that many people by getting those darn five year-olds with headcolds off those forklifts!
Answer:
That IS hilarious!! I like the one on spermicidal jelly that says not to ingest. So, someone must have spread it on toast one day and still got pregnant and complained. So, where did this kid get on heavy machinery after taking Tylenol? That is usually what causes the warnings.I have also heard one where the hair dryer said not to use while asleep. WHAT !?That is a good laugh for the day.
alot of adults take childerns tylenol
How about the crystal paks that come in new purses and such, they say do not eat. Duh...
They have to make these labels idiot proof. The same reason hair dryers say do not use in the shower and curling irons carry warnings not to use while sleeping. Geeze and here I thought we could all save time drying our hair in the shower or sleeping with the curling iron in my hair? The rul of thumb is; ya gotta dumb it down to a 3rd grade level!Funny question - thanks for asking - made me giggle!
